Itinerary

1^st DAY: ARRIVE ULAANBAATAR

Fly to Ulaanbaatar. Meet the local guide and the team. Transfer to the hotel and placement. Fixing necessary formalities, overnight in hotel. (overnight: hotel)

2^nd DAY: ULAANBAATAR

After breakfast enjoy privately guided City tour. Visit major sites like: Gandan Monastery, National Museum (old but gold), Sukhbaatar square and the Beatles monument. Enjoy late lunch, overnight in hotel. (overnight: hotel)

3^rd DAY: ULAANBAATAR – TEREJ NP

Start your day with the first drive in Mongolia, directly up to Terej National Park. On the way stop by the amazing Genghis Khan Statue and have lunch. After lunch join the activities in Terej National Park. Before overnight in a hut, dinner is waiting for you. (overnight: hut, based on FB)

4^th DAY: TEREJ NATIONAL PARK – BAGA GAYRIIN CHULUU

Today breakfast is early, as we have a longer drive towards Baga Gayriin Chuluu. After short rest and lunch, you visit remains of the monastery and the valley. Drive to Ger camp, settle, enjoy dinner and overnight in ger. (overnight: ger, based on FB)

5^th DAY: BAGA GAYRIIN CHULUU – TSAGAAN SUVARGA

Another scenic drive towards the heart of Gobi Desert. Drive to ger camp close to Tsagaan Suvarga (the White Stupa), created by the legend of dragons. Have lunch and visit the White Stupa at sunset time. Return to camp for dinner and overnight. (overnight: ger, based on FB)

6^th DAY: TSAGAAN SUVRAGA – YOLYN AM

Drive to Yolyn Am, on the way visit Dalanzadgad city for shopping and lunch. See the museum of Yolyn Am, hike through the valley of Yolyn Am. If lucky enough, you might see the glacier. Hike takes approximately 3-4 hours 8it is not extremely challenging). Continue drive to another ger camp, dinner awaits. (overnight: ger, based on FB)

7^th DAY: YOLYN AM – KHONGOR SAND DUNE

Finally, the day for the ‘real’ desert- sand dunes and sandcastles… Drive to Khongor Els, lunch on the way, after placement have a camel ride, before climb to Khongor Els. Climb is quite challenging so do as much you can. Late dinner and overnight. (overnight: ger, based on FB)

8^th DAY: BAYANZAG – FLAMING CLIFFS – ONGIIN KHIID

Let’s see where the Dinos were hiding. After breakfast drive to Bayanzag and visit Flaming cliffs. Have lunch and drive a long bumpy road towards new ger camp. Admire the sunset and enjoy dinner. (overnight: ger, based on FB)

9^th DAY: ONGIIN KHIID – KHARKHORIN

First, visit Ongiin Monastery ruins and hear about the history of Buddhism in Mongolia. Drive is with stops for photos and lunch. When arrive to Kharkhorin, visit Erdene Zuu Khiid – the oldest remaining monastery in Mongolia. Have dinner and then participate at the small show with Throat singer and dancers. (overnight: ger, based on FB)

10^th DAY: KHARKHORIN – KHORGIIN TOGOO UUL – TERKH TSAGAAN NUUR

Visit the Great Imperial Map Monument and Turtle Stone. In the afternoon reach Khorgo volcano, climb up to admire the view of the White lake. Sleep in ger camp next to the lake. (overnight: ger, based on FB)

11^th DAY: TSAGAAN NUUR – MURON

Yet another scenic and longer drive, but when reaching Muron, relax, have lunch. Join to visit the local ‘black’ market, after dinner overnight. (overnight: ger, based on FB)

12^th DAY: MURON – UUSHIGIIN UVER – KHOVSGOL NATIONAL PARK

Today the drive is short, but be sure to visit Uushigiin Uvur deer stone before arrival to Khovsgol lake. Enjoy shared boat ride over the grand lake – the Mongolian pride. Walk around the small island and circle the Ovoo. Return to ger camp for overnight. (overnight: ger, based on FB)

13^th DAY: KHOVSGOL NP

Late breakfast and get ready for a short, 3 hours, horse ride. Visit reindeers and nomads in the area. After lunch hike in the area to feel the fresh air far away form the tourist hub of the lake. It’s probably the only part of the journey packed with tourists (local and foreign alike). (overnight: ger, based on FB)

14^th DAY: KHOVSGUL – KHUTAG ONDOR

Cross the city of Muron again and leave civilisation by the main road. Today is all about relaxation, ger camp is somewhere next to one of the longest rivers of Mongolia – Selenge. Free afternoon, dinner and overnight. (overnight: ger, based on FB)

15^th DAY: KHUTAG ONDOR – AMARBAYASGALANT KHIID

Because of the longer drive, start early today. Drive to Amarbayasgalant Khiid, lunch is waiting on the way. When reaching Amarbayasgalant Khiid, visit the temple and hike up to stupa. It’s going to be the last night in traditional ger camp – have a farewell party for your team. (overnight: ger, based on FB)

16^th DAY: AMARBAYASGALANT KHIID – ULAANBAATAR

Drive back to Ulaanbaatar, with last lunch on the way. Once back to Ulaanbaatar, hotel placement. Free afternoon for your last errands. (overnight: hotel)

17^th DAY: ULAANBAATAR – INTERNATIONAL FLIGHT

Check out of the hotel. Transfer to the airport and say bye to Mongolia. End of service.

Travel Notes & Recommendations

Clothing: Pack layers for wide temperature swings, including breathable fabrics for sunny days, a windproof and rainproof jacket for the open steppe, and warm thermal layers for cool evenings. Sturdy walking or hiking boots are essential for uneven terrain, and modest clothing (covering shoulders and knees) is required for monastery visits.

Local Etiquette: Greet locals with a warm smile or a gentle handshake, and always step over—never on—the threshold when entering a ger (traditional yurt). Accept food, drink, or gifts with your right hand (or both hands), and avoid pointing directly at people, sacred objects, or livestock.

Environment: Tap water is not safe to drink, so stick to filtered, boiled, or bottled water and carry a reusable insulated bottle to stay hydrated across the dry steppe. Keep insect repellent, high-SPF sunscreen, and lip balm handy for long days outdoors in the wind and sun.

Visa & Documents: Ensure your passport has at least 6 months of validity remaining from your arrival date. Double-check if your nationality requires an E-visa beforehand, and keep digital copies of your passport, visa approval, and travel insurance stored securely on your phone.

Cash & Payments: Cash (Mongolian Tögrög / MNT) is essential once you leave Ulaanbaatar for countryside shops, local drivers, and nomadic families. Major credit cards are widely accepted in Ulaanbaatar hotels and restaurants, but ATMs are rare in rural areas, so carry sufficient small bills.

Weather & Road Conditions: Mongolian weather shifts rapidly from bright sunshine to cold winds or rain within hours, even in summer. Outside Ulaanbaatar, paved highways quickly turn into unpaved dirt tracks across the steppe, so expect long, bumpy, but beautifully scenic drives.

Drivers & Local Guides: Your dedicated private guide and professional driver will handle all logistics, navigation, and site entry tickets. Cash tips (typically given in cash at the end of the trip or full-day segments) are greatly appreciated for excellent service.
